The basis for any succesful utilisation of your groundwater resources would be a complete and referenceable account of the available resources.
By completing an in depth hydrosensus on your property or within your project area i.e Suburb or surrounds, you are able to determine the characteristics of the geology and water resources. This will enable any project manager, resource manager or farmer to effectively utilise the groundwater resources to their benefit.
Characteristics of a Hydrosensus:
1. Site Evaluation - The project lead or persons implementing the hydrosensus have to determine what resources if any are available within the proposed work area i.e Farm, Commercial Surrounds, Mining Area
2. Pre-data Capture - Once the site evaluation has been completed a detailed list of all resources is compiled with the following data assigned to each resource:
3. Resource evaluations - Once the pre-data is succesfully captured each resource will be thoroughly evaluated. Borehole pumps and equipment will be removed, measured photographed. The borehole itself will be yield tested, measured and a water sample taken. All the captured data will then be added to the original pre-data to compile a detailed information set for each resource.
4. Final Data Compilation - Once all resources have been evaluated a complete site file is compiled with a detailed site map, yield estimations, resource accounts and water quality results.
Once the hydrosensus is completed the data set is then used to determine the most viable resources for use based on the site requirements. This in turn allows for a more cost effective approach to groundwater usage.
